Natalie's exhibition in the Shaun Project Space was a colourful, whimsical display of religious and heavily cultured imagery. The display consisted of a mix of sculptural work and pastel drawing with a consisted presence of the 'bird man' - a figure of human nature with bird-like features and the presence of a deity. The gold and yellow colours used complimented this 'god' persona, in tandem with the symbolic aspects such as the halo in the oil pastel drawing or the drapery of the mannequin piece. Natalie uses specific shapes in her pieces that are almost reminiscent of the cubism period. If I was to compare Natalie's work to another artist it would be Picasso with the use of shapes and strange figures. I also gathered aboriginal vibes which ties in with the overall cultural theme. If I was to provide feedback on this work, I would suggest developing the sculptures by using harder materials such as wood or even scrap metal to make them look a bit more polished and maybe have them as free standing sculptures instead of propped against a wall. I think the themes are strong and each piece works well with each other. I also think the cloak and mask would make a good performance piece.
